Set in Montreal at the turn of the 20th century, the 17.5-minute short is a handcrafted modern fable about a boy and a girl brought together by sorrow \u2014 and the temptations of greed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Girl Who Cried Pearls<\/em>&nbsp;marks a deliberate departure from the surreal, dreamlike space that defined Lavis and Szczerbowski\u2019s 2008 Oscar-nominated short,&nbsp;<em>Madame Tutli-Putli<\/em>. Working under their Clyde Henry Productions banner, the longtime creative partners embraced the challenges of linear storytelling while continuing their commitment to collaboration, creative risk and deliberate resistance to ego.
